Denis Kaye
About Me:
A well-known face in Yorkshire business circles, I have been working with owner-managed businesses and their owners since the mid -1970s so I've survived a few recessions. I am a chartered accountant and have worked in both the UK and Canada. I founded the North Yorkshire Branch of the Institute of Directors ('IoD') and am a past regional deputy chairman of IoD Yorkshire & the Humber.
Specialist Sectors:
During my years in practice as an accountant I had clients in all sectors and my current non-executive directorships cover a range from investment management, through management consultancy and software development to a charity. Most of my work relates to the service sector.
Expertise:
I provide advisory services to private companies and professional partnerships and mentoring for their leaders. Much of this work involves financial and business development issues across a wide variety of sectors. During the last five years I have mentored approximately thirty SME business-leaders under schemes funded or part funded by various Business Links, Leeds University Business School and the Northern Leadership Academy together with self-funded clients.
Companies I Work With:
I work across the private and third sectors and at all stages of development although mostly with organisations that are seeking to develop or facing succession planning issues rather than with start-ups.
What My Clients Say About Me:
"I have worked with Denis originally as a facilitator, sounding board and coach. He brings an excellent blend of left and right brain activity to his work. He has a deep understanding of professional service firms and partnerships which has enabled him to provide a valuable mentoring service to our partnership, and enabled us to make some very positive organisational changes. He is very good."
Christopher Butterworth, Raworths
"Denis is not only an extremely experienced consultant in the Professional Services and owner managed business market but also a hugely respected individual in his field of expertise. He has a huge network of contacts but remarkably none of them superficial! Everyone I have ever come across who knows him (and that includes most) have only glowing recommendations and really value his opinion. He is a man of great integrity and in my opinion I consider that to be a trait that is becoming ever more scarce."
Lisa Lister, Progress Marketing
What I Like To Do When Not Working:
I will be on a road bike or a mountain bike or walking (with or without my Labrador). If it is wintertime you'll find me trying to escape to the Alps to ski. I also have a passion for motor cars and motor sport but don't have the budget to indulge that passion very fully.
