The launch of the CRC (Carbon Reduction Commitment) energy efficiency scheme in April placed carbon reduction firmly on the agenda for large public sector organisations and businesses. However, all businesses can benefit from identifying opportunities to reduce their carbon footprint and whilst not captured by the current legislation, many will be asked to provide information and match the commitments of their partners, customers and competitors. This briefing will look at the drivers for business to reduce its carbon footprint and explore some opportunities for your business to meet the carbon challenge.
Speaking at this event:
Helen Shiels, Partner Account Manager, CO2Sense Yorkshire
CO2Sense has been running a carbon trading simulation to help organisations prepare for the CRC energy efficiency scheme. Helen Shiels will be presenting the lessons learnt from the first 12 months of Carbon Trading Yorkshire and what this means for both large and smaller businesses and those organisations that may become involved in carbon trading legislation in the future.
Colin Sidaway, Energy Consultant
After 25 years of delivering the green energy message, there is still a need for raising the awareness of every day waste. Colin Sidaway will be delivering an interactive session to help you recognise the opportunities within your own organisation to engage staff on saving energy and reducing your carbon footprint.
Tom Mason, Rural Practice Surveyor, gfw-Renewables
The Government-backed Feed in Tariffs offer guaranteed payments for renewable electricity generation in the UK. Tom Mason will be discussing the opportunities this new incentive offers as a source of income and energy independence for your business and the key issues to consider.
David Sproat, Best Practice Manager, Simpson (York) Ltd.
David Sproat, Best Practice Manager, will explain what carbon reduction means in practice for York-based construction and fit-out company Simpson (York) Ltd. The company monitors its carbon footprint, invests in new technologies and has an ongoing target to reduce its carbon emissions. All part of a long term commitment to improving performance and sustainability across its buildings and operations.
