Chamber Polls
Your Chamber runs regular polls to find out what you think on business issues and policy. The results are used to inform the Chamber’s lobbying activity so please consider your answers carefully. The Government has announced proposals to abolish the default retirement age (which is currently 65). The Government is currently holding a consultation into this issue and as a result, the Chamber is seeking the veiws of local business, which we will then put forward as part of the consultation. To help us please answer the brief qusetion below as to whether you are in favour of the abolition. Thank You. Skills & Employment Survey July 2010 As any employer knows, having a skilled workforce is the foundation of a successful business as they enhance productivity, innovation and earning potential. Quarterly Economic Survey (Q.E.S)
All members are given the opportunity to take part in the Q.E.S, which is under taken by the British Chambers of Commerce. It is the most extensive and regular measure of business trends at local, regional and national levels. The survey covers issues such as the current state of local business orders and sales, investment, employment, recruitment difficulties and business confidence. The results are a reliable economic indicator and are used by the Government and Bank of England when developing policy and forecasts. The 2010 Quarter 2 survey fieldwork is currently taking place.
