Soul diva to top Yorkshire fundraiser

BK New pic 2Organisers of the legendary Firecracker Ball in Yorkshire have pulled off another major musical coup with confirmation that soul sensation Beverley Knight is to perform at the event on 10th November.

The singer, billed as the ‘Queen of British Soul’, will headline what is shaping up to be another night to remember as 800 special guests gather to celebrate and raise funds for Barnardo’s causes in Yorkshire.

Noted for her staggering live performances which have gained her a legion of fans from David Bowie to Prince, and Take That to Jamiroquai, Beverley recently wowed an estimated worldwide television audience of one billion with an outstanding rendition of the song, I Am What I Am at the London 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony.

Beverley has been one of the UK’s most consistent artists of the past 15 years and has sold more than a million albums in the UK, including four gold albums.

She has been awarded an MBE for her services to British music and for her charity work and has won three MOBOs. Beverley has also been nominated for best female at the Brit Awards three times, and been nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize twice.

Phil Taylor, Chairman of the Firecracker Ball committee said: “Beverley is a top class act guaranteed to impress a fundraising audience with high expectations.  It is a real challenge to top our performers year on year but we know that Beverley will deliver the goods for another ‘knight’ to remember!”

The Firecracker Ball 2012 will take place on Saturday 10th November in the grounds of the prestigious Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate. The event has become the most significant event in the Yorkshire social calendar helping to change the lives of thousands of children and young people across Yorkshire.  Since 2002 the ball has raised more than £1 million for Barnardo’s causes.

In previous years the Firecracker Ball has entertained guests with stunning themes and special performances from major acts including Lulu, Billy Ocean, Heather Small, ABC, Tony Hadley and Gabrielle.

Evans Property Group, UBS Wealth Management and law firm Dickinson Dees LLP have committed to support the event as co sponsors.  Rocca Boutique in Harrogate is also supporting the event.

With only a few tables now remaining The Firecracker Ball committee is focusing efforts to gather ‘money can’t buy’ auction prizes and is appealing to individuals and businesses for donations.  For more information please contact Kirsty Guy 01748 821295 or kirsty.guy@barnardos.org.uk  or visit www.thefirecrackerball.org
