Barnardo’s firecracker a sell out

The legendary Firecracker Ball, which takes place each year to raise funds for Barnardo’s causes in Yorkshire, has sold out of tickets a month ahead of the event.  With more than 700 guests secured organisers are now appealing for prizes that will help to bump up money raised for the children’s charity.

Firecracker Ball committee chairman, Phil Taylor said, “Guests pay generously to support the cause and attend the event which is always spectacular.  But it is the funds that we raise on the night that make all the difference.  ‘Money can’t buy’ auction prizes and raffle gifts are critical to meeting our targets and we are appealing now to the great and good of Yorkshire to donate prizes for a very worthy cause.”

This year The Firecracker Ball will raise funds to support family support services in Yorkshire such as The Priory Family Centre where family support is offered through a Drop In Group, Baby Group and Parenting Programmes. The Priory also provides support for some families with significant needs. A Short Breaks Holiday Club provides holiday activities for 8-18 year olds with complex health needs including physical disabilities, life limiting conditions and learning disabilities. The Priory Siblings Group provides support services to young people whose sibling has a disability or a life limiting illness.

The Firecracker Ball 2012 will take place on Saturday 10th November in the grounds of the prestigious Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate.  A ‘roaring 20’s’ theme is planned with soul sensation Beverley Knight topping the bill.  The event has become the most significant event in the Yorkshire social calendar helping to change the lives of thousands of children and young people across Yorkshire.  Since 2002 the ball has raise more than £1.1 million for Barnardo’s causes.

The event is once again sponsored by Evans Property Group, Dickinson Dees and UBS Wealth Management.  Harrogate based Rocca Boutique is also fashion sponsor.

The Firecracker Ball committee is appealing for prizes, however large or small and any donors will be credited for their generosity on the night. Previous prizes have ranged from prestige tickets for key sporting events, limited edition artwork, holiday breaks and experience days through to beauty or dinner vouchers any many more.  All gift proposals are gratefully received.
