Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa launches new immersive marketing campaign
Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa has just launched a new marketing campaign aimed at bringing to life the history, atmosphere and magic of York’s first five-star hotel.
Led by the line ‘Some people visit York’s landmarks ... others stay in them”, the campaign consists of a two and a half minute video, a new set of photography and three brochures in three different sizes.
The idea is to give people rich, immersive materials, regardless of whether they’re browsing YouTube, checking photos on Facebook or leafing through a brochure at home.
Maria Florou, General Manager of The Grand, said:
“Earlier this year we decided the time was right to try and really capture the unique atmosphere of The Grand in a new marketing campaign. Guests tell us that The Grand is unlike anywhere else they’ve stayed – not just because it’s five star but because it has such a rich personality given depth by its history and architecture. People respond to that in a very emotional way and it is that that we’ve tried to convey in video, photography and print. We’re very proud of the results.”
The brochure comes in three sizes: a small A6 piece which is designed to have a ‘viral’ life, slipping easily into pockets and handbags; a modern, square-shaped piece which is the conventional hotel brochure; and a large format ‘VIP’ brochure which fully showcases the stylish photography and makes a delightful souvenir.
Each is finished in uncoated paper stock, for a lovely tactile experience, and features subtle silver foil embossing.
The video and photography were shot side-by-side, so scenes appear in both. The sense is of a photoshoot on a film-set and in fact, keen-eyed viewers will notice that the video follows a narrative arc: from sun-rise to sunset, evoking the different Grand moods throughout the day.
It also provides a glimpse of The Grand’s behind-the-scenes life, with shots of beds being made, pastries being dusted with icing sugar and candles being lit.
