York accountant praised for pivotal role in thai restaurant chain success

Russell Turner, the managing director of leading Yorkshire accountants Garbutt & Elliott, has been praised for his “pivotal and inspiring” role in the success of the Leeds-based Thai restaurant group Chaophraya. 

Martin Stead, the founder and chief operating officer of Chaophraya, said that Russell’s advice had been “invaluable” since Chaophraya first opened in Leeds in 2004. 

The popular Thai chain currently has restaurants in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and Glasgow and is opening a new restaurant in Edinburgh next month. The group’s annual turnover is £21 million. 

Mr Stead commented: “We have been steadily growing our businesses since establishing our first restaurant eight years ago. The quality of our dishes and the overall “Chao experience” has meant that our customers have not lost their appetite for eating out despite the difficult economic conditions over the past few years.
